1. Offer
If you are currently insured with another pet insurance provider and switch to PD Insurance (pd.co.nz ), PD Insurance will reimburse up to $150 per pet towards any eligible switching fees charged by your previous insurer in connection with the cancellation of your existing policy.
2. Eligibility:
- hold an active PD Insurance policy (Accident, Classic, or Deluxe plan) at the time of claiming;
- have cancelled an existing pet insurance policy with another New Zealand-registered insurer; and
- have incurred an eligible switching fee charged by that insurer as a direct result of that cancellation.
3. Qualifying Fees
- outstanding premium amounts or premium arrears owed to your previous insurer;
- any amounts you would have paid regardless of cancellation (e.g. monthly premiums already due);
- any costs not directly charged by your previous insurer (e.g. bank fees or third-party costs); or
4. Reimbursement Amount
The maximum reimbursement is $150 per pet. PD Insurance will only reimburse the amount you actually incurred — if your switching fee is less than $150, you will be reimbursed the lesser amount. There is no cap on the number of pets for which you may claim, provided each pet meets the eligibility criteria and each claim is supported by separate evidence.
5. How to Claim
To submit a reimbursement claim, you must provide PD Insurance with evidence of the switching fee charged by your previous insurer. Acceptable evidence includes:
- a letter or written confirmation from your previous insurer confirming the fee charged and the reason for it; or
- a final invoice, statement, or tax invoice from your previous insurer showing the amount charged.
You may submit your claim at the time of taking out your PD Insurance policy or at any time thereafter, provided your claim is submitted within 12 months of the date your previous insurer charged the switching fee. Claims submitted after this period will not be accepted.
To submit your claim, please email us the supporting documentation to [email protected].
6. Payment
Approved reimbursements will be paid directly into your nominated bank account within 14 days of PD Insurance receiving and verifying acceptable evidence of the switching fee. PD Insurance reserves the right to request additional documentation if the evidence provided is insufficient to verify your claim.
7. Withdrawal and Changes
This offer is ongoing. However, PD Insurance reserves the right to withdraw or amend this offer at any time based on business requirements. Where changes are materially adverse to customers who have already submitted a valid claim, PD Insurance will honour that claim under the terms in effect at the time it was submitted.
