“Didget simply wouldn’t be with us if we didn’t have PD – we could not have afforded the surgery he needed.”

– Samantha, Auckland

Earlier this year, Gizmo got into a nasty cat fight and it was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had as a pet owner. Having PD Pet Insurance was a godsend. I didn’t have to hesitate or worry about whether I could afford the best care for him. Everything was made so easy. From the claim process to the support I got along the way. I was able to get Gizmo the treatment he needed straight away, no delays, no stress. He had surgery, follow-ups, medication, and anything else he needed to heal properly. And through it all, PD was there, making sure we were looked after.
“My cat was hit by a car very badly. He had multiple broken bones, a fractured jaw, punctured lungs, and was completely paralysed. The vet recommended ending his suffering, which I understood, but I wanted to give him a chance. The only reason I could do that was because I had pet insurance and knew the treatment would be covered.”

– Ona, Canterbury
“Insurance was a godsend when my cat was diagnosed with toxoplasmosis. Between the specialist neurologist, the CT scan and X-rays and the 3 months of antibiotics with fortnightly vet visits – knowing she was insured really helped take away some of the stress.”

“One of our cats (he’s a timid boy), was attacked when running away from another cat. He lost two claws and they got infected, so he may have needed an amputation, thankfully he didn’t. PD Insurance covered everything. We’re so grateful for them doing this, it made a very stressful time easier to cope with. Thank you so much for your help.”

“After one of our cats was involved in a hit by car incident & wasn't insured, we learnt the hard way how valuable insurance is. They are both fully insured with PD insurance now!”

Kitten insurance FAQ

Have a burning question about our cover? The answers you seek are at your fingertips.

The cost of vet bills can easily be thousands of dollars, and can run into tens of thousands. Seriously.

What’s more is that it’s not unusual for some pets to need to go to the vet several times a year.

Our kitten insurance plans cover the cost of reasonable veterinary expenses incurred as a result of accidental injury and/or illness.

Let us take the worry out of your hands.

Yes – after all, accidents happen. Especially when you have an unpredictable animal on your hands!

Rest assured each of the PD Insurance pet cover plans includes accident cover. This means our kitten insurance covers the cost of treating your beloved pet for injuries sustained in an accident. This includes things like choking, being hit by a car and other unforeseeable incidents.

Read more about our coverage in the PD Insurance Policy Wording here.

PD Insurance Classic and Deluxe pet insurance plans cover veterinary expenses incurred as a result of illness, including illnesses arising from hereditary conditions, after the required waiting period has passed. Our Accident Plan does not.

An illness means an unexpected sickness or disease, or any change to your pet’s normal healthy state. This could be an upset stomach, a skin condition or an ear infection, or another sickness/disease that’s not caused by an accidental injury.

Read more about our coverage in the PD Insurance Policy Wording here.

PD Insurance covers hereditary conditions under our Classic and Deluxe pet insurance plans, as long as the condition was not present prior to commencing your cover or during any applicable waiting period(s).

Compare our PD Insurance plans for pets over one year old (dog insurance or cat insurance) and you’ll find the same benefits as with your kitten insurance.

Third party liability refers to the financial loss you may suffer if your pet causes damage to other people or their property. After all, pets can be unpredictable.

With PD Insurance, you can rest assured that you’re covered by your kitten insurance as long as:

  • The injury was not suffered by a family member residing with you
  • The property is not owned by you or anyone residing with you (or in a trust held by you or someone residing with you)
  • The damage or injury occurs in NZ

Please read the Policy Wording for limits, terms and conditions.
