PD recently enjoyed attending and showcasing our products and partnerships at the December Dog Day Out in Auckland and Christchurch Pet Expo as well as the November Healthy Pets New Zealand Dogs Day Out in Invercargill before that. These pet events are an incredible way to strengthen the message of responsible pet ownership and meet all kinds of people.
A major boon is meeting fellow pet professionals, pet owners and enthusiasts in person after years of lockdown. Our digital approach to pet insurance is a key priority but we’re also very much a local brand on the ground.
It was lovely to see those of you who attended these pet events and to share the floor with our industry partners. More on these successful events below.
Dog Day Out, 10 Dec
PD proudly shared a stand with the Department of Conservation (DOC) at Auckland Council’s Snells Beach Dog Day Out pet event.
We were able to reach and teach dog owners about the value of upskilling on responsible dog ownership in the context of our coastal wildlife, while encouraging them to protect their pooch and pocket with insurance.
The PD and DOC Lead the Way programme instils knowledge and provides tools to protect dogs and wildlife when we visit the beaches and beyond. Part of our efforts involve a ‘wildlife wise’ quiz, colour-coded dog leads and guides on best practices. With each we’re helping upskill dog owners on how to make ‘walkies’ safer.

Christchurch Pet & Animal Expo, 3-4 Dec
The Christchurch Pet Expo was another wonderful chance to share our offering and discuss Lead the Way with pet owners. DOC also attended both days with us and we managed to nab them their own stand thanks to a cancellation.
As you’re probably keenly aware, pet insurance is much newer than human health insurance. While it offers similar financial benefits to pet owners and similar health benefits to pets, not every pet owner knows this. Often that happens when it’s too late.
That’s why, while flying our colours at our pet event stand we also did some fun hampers and pet insurance giveaways. Every time a pet owner discovers the supportive benefits of pet cover another companion animal is healthier. Which means they’re more likely to enjoy life to the fullest.

Dogs Day Out pet event with HPNZ, 26 & 27 Nov
A big thanks to our partner Healthy Pets New Zealand (HPNZ) for hosting the Invercargill Dogs Day Out event. This particular pet event featured a “Bark run”, dog education seminar, demonstrations on dog obedience, scent work exhibition and more.
PD was proud to host a stand and give a welcome speech before a demonstration by NZ Fire Service accelerant detection dog “Boss” and his handler Murray.
