Winter is the best time for your cat to get cosy and snuggly as the temperatures drop. Cat beds, and even jackets, can help make those chilly days a bit more bearable and show your furry friend how much you love them.
So if you want to spoil your cat this cold season, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite winter buys for you.
The ultimate cat beds and other finds this season
These cat beds and other finds are chosen with the colder days and nights in mind. However, a lot of them adapt well for summertime use. Sort of like your favourite hoodie, just…for cats.
Our favourite cat beds for winter
Start looking at cat beds, and you’ll quickly realise you’re spoiled for choice. Broadly speaking, there are a few types of cat beds:
- Flat beds which sit on the floor with no roof or edges
- Bowl-shaped beds which have no roof but does have edges
- Cat caves or igloos which have a roof and sides
- Window beds which allow your cat to snooze while watching over his outdoor Kingdom
Your kitty will have his own preference, but for winter, we absolutely love a good cave. It’s a safe, cosy place to snooze and can really help your cat stay warm in the cold weather.
A New Zealand wool cat cave is always going to make winter better for your belove feline. Not only will they look adorable all curled up inside their handmade cat bed cave, but wool naturally regulates temperature in both heat and cold so it’ll be suitable for all seasons.
But if you really want to warm things up, why not try this heated pet bed? It’s just like having an electric blanket for humans. And it’s hard to deny how great that feels on a cold night. We think a heated cat bed sounds like kitty heaven, to be honest.
A cat bed without a blanket?
No bed is complete without a lovely matching blanket or duvet. We absolutely adore these 100% cotton knit blankets in a wide variety of colours. Your cat will look and feel ultra posh, and they totally deserve it.
After all, they rule the roost…and you know it.
Cat bed meets cat scratching post
A good scratching post is one of those awesome products that works for all seasons. Many cat scratchers are seriously multitaskers and work as a cat bed, cat scratcher, and safety perch. All at the same time.
These scratchers are a good option for winter, because you can pop a big warm blanket inside for them to snuggle into. Then in the warmer months, stick with a lightweight blanket or airy cushion.
And of course, what cat doesn’t love the opportunity to sharpen those claws? They’re used as a way to stop your cat scratching furniture. Hopefully your cat will love everything about the cat bed-scratcher-perch-hideyhole, and leave you a bit of extra space to sprawl out on the couch under your very own fluffy blanket. but just like the wool cat cave it can adapt to different seasons too!
We particularly love this one from across the pond in Australia, but think the one on this local website is a great local alternative thanks to removeable, washable mats and multiple areas for scratching, playing, and watching the world go by.
Cat jackets
Not all cats will enjoy or even tolerate a jacket. But if your kitty gets cold and doesn’t mind having them on, there are some seriously cute – and practical – cat jackets available. You’ll have to look a bit harder for them than dog jackets, but they are out there.
If you’ve a hairless cat, elderly cat, or just one who really feels the cold, they’ll probably love it.
And think of the cat Instagram pictures you could get; cuddled up in his warm cat bed complete with fluffy jacket. Cuuuuute!
Cat insurance for an extra soft landing
Pet insurance is so much more than financial peace of mind during emergencies and illness. It’s a proactive way to help your pet get the best for their health.
There’s no doubting that both you and your cat will rest easier knowing you’re covered…by the insurance that is. Not the winter blankets.
