#1 PC / PS cat themed game called ‘Stray’
Launched to players in mid 2022, Stray is a third person kitty cat game set in an inspired dystopian neon cyberpunk city. As you can imagine, any dystopian neon cyberpunk city is going to have cats. Right!? After all, even in the strangest settings, cats’ independent streak gives them the leading edge.
What is the point of stray cat game?
Picture it: You get to play as a stray cat, navigating this futuristic world and your major goal is reuniting with your family. This may not be what cats in the real world do since they’re often solo, but hey, it’s a great goal.
That said, the game does let you indulge in some genuine cat behaviours. Think carpet and door scratching and snuggling up (even if it’s next to robots).
Is it worth buying Stray?
This cat game was highly anticipated by PC and PS gamers (some say it’s “the best cat game ever made”). It’s epic and beautifully designed atmosphere boasts some sumptuous graphics and the characters are incredible.
Or maybe you’d rather adopt a cat than play a stray cat (or both?).
Back to Stray… This cat game was rated 8 out of 10 by Imagine Games Network and gets a Metacritic score of 83%. Google reviewers give it 98% positive feedback. Not bad, but what can you expect when it’s cat themed, right! Get a glimpse of the game with this trailer:
#2 Exploding Kittens cat themed card game
Exploding Kittens burst onto the scene in 2015 through the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. The creators, Matthew Inman, Elan Lee and Shane Small hit their $10,000 USD funding goal in 20 minutes. At one hour in they’d bypassed it, reaching 1000% funding. Now that’s what you call a good start!
What is the game Exploding Kittens about?
In essence, the game involves a deck of cards and each player must draw from it. The deck comprises both “diffuser cards” (such as laser pointers or catnip sandwiches) and Exploding Kittens.
According to CNN it’s “like Uno, except there are goats, magical enchiladas, and kittens that can kill you.”
The main goal is steering clear of that all-feared Exploding Kitten card. If you get that card, technically you explode and then it’s game over. But, either way, it’s cute.
Is there a strategy to Exploding Kittens card game?
Players can also employ strategic manoeuvres and plot against their competitors using a selection of action cards. These cards enable players to, for example, launch attacks on opponents or force them to take extra cards.

#3 Cat themed board game called Calico
Calico cats are often mistaken for one of the many different cat breeds. But in fact they’re not. Rather, they’re more of a style of patchwork colours. Appropriately, the cat themed board game called Calico is all about quilts.
What is the game Calico about?
Cat lovers, you’ll be pleased to know that Calico stands out as a board game. The premise: craft the prettiest and coziest quilt to attract cats for a blissful lounging experience.
Like the Exploding Kittens cat game, Calico is a multiplayer game that’s easy to learn and appeals to kids and adults alike. The objective involves competing with fellow players by collecting and strategically placing patches of various colours and patterns.
Is Calico a good board game?
If you’re wondering whether this is a good option to choose, an enthusiastic reviewer expressed the following:
“Calico boasts gorgeous artwork, challenging yet approachable gameplay, and a purr-fectly wonderful theme that will immediately resonate with something like 40% of the world’s population. Those of us who prefer dogs will be feline jealous after seeing just how much fun the cat people are having.”
Each quilt design offers up aesthetically pleasing patterns to follow. You get to compete and kind of make an artwork that’s worth a cat’s heart. Speaking of things that will pull on your cat’s heartstrings, here are some great cat toys to peruse.

#4 Aussie made ‘Copycat’
At the time of writing, the purr-fectly quirky Copycat hasn’t graced the gaming scene yet. But get ready for its grand entrance sometime in the course of 2024. In the meantime, players can try out the demo version.
This game was created in Australia, crafted with love by a couple of feline enthusiasts hailing from Sydney.
According to Games Hub, “Copycat is much more than just a cat game… a deeply personal exploration of the human experience of belonging, shown through the eyes of a cat.”
How to play the Copycat game
Picture this: You step into the virtual paws of a shelter cat named Dawn. As a sceptical shelter cat with a rebellious streak, Dawn prefers the streets and pavements over the cozy confines of adoption.
However, a twist of fate brings Dawn face to face with Olive. Olive is an Australian who happens to be mourning the loss of her own faithfully departed kitty cat.
Together, the pair embarks on a feline-fuelled journey and… you guessed it… the bond that helps mend each of their broken hearts is sparked.
Copycat is about emotional connection
Copycat isn’t just a game, it’s a narrative-driven escapade that dives deep into the realms of loneliness and belonging. Imagine navigating alleyways, fences and rooftops through a cat’s eyes.
All this in the pursuit of the warm glow of human connection in a cold, dark world. Check out the preview of this cat game:
