Let’s Pawdy as PD Insurance Turns 4 🎉

It’s PD Insurance birthday time! We’re celebrating four years with PD pets, pet owners and partners. Since opening our doors and launching our website on 3rd August 2020 a lot has happened in New Zealand.

Pets and their people have weathered a pandemic, a cyclone and now we’re in the thick of a recession. Thankfully our pets are always ready to support us through thick and thin – as friends, cheerleaders, listeners and most of all – as family!

There’s a lot to celebrate this PD birthday – get your pawdy hats on and take a look.

PD Insurance birthday time is our chance to celebrate the incredible pets and their people who make up our family. We’re proud to be a part of each of your lives, helping provide cover for unexpected vet trips.

We’d like to thank each and every one of the pets and people signed up with us.

As part of this, we’re taking this opportunity to look at some heartwarming customer stories:

⭐Harvey the mini Schnauzer

Harvey swallowed a rawhide bone, had a chair fall on and break his foot and swallowed a grape – all in a short space of time. Thankfully we could be a part of the silver lining on this Schnauzer’s story.

⭐Steve the Russian blue cat

Steve went through a rough patch of trial and error with vet visits until he was eventually diagnosed with immune-mediated polyarthritis, which is similar to rheumatoid arthritis in humans. We’re thankful to be part of this Russian Blue’s happy tail of getting vet treatment.

⭐Romeo the Retriever

This gorgeous Golden Retriever suddenly stopped eating and became listless. A series of vet visits and tests eventually resulted in surgery and the uncovering of a grass seed lodged between his left femoral musculature. PD is grateful to have been able to help when this pup needed surgery after the grass seed caused a bacterial infection!

⭐Hazelnut the Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy

Hazelnut almost died after swallowing 30 human heart medication tablets. Quick acting from her pet owners and vet treatments saved her life. PD insurance is proud to be a part of this cute Rhodesian Ridgeback’s survival story.

⭐Shilo and Rex, Labrador puppy best buds

Shilo is a chocolate Lab and her best bud is Rex, a yellow Lab. Within a month of each other, Shilo fell and broke his hip joint and Rex swallowed a dead bird. Thankfully, these two Kiwi Labrador puppies were signed up with PD so we could help cover the vet costs for these unexpected pickles.

Nothing makes you stronger or better at what you do than good relationships. We’re proud to be partnered with incredible organisations like Healthy Pets NZ and Dogs NZ kennel club.

Together, we’re able to provide more pet owners and breeders with insights and info on the benefits of pet insurance, helping more pets access vet treatments in their hour of need.

We work hand in paw with our partners to bring articles, videos, newsletters and more to our shared audiences. We also attend vet expos and other pet events together to meet pet owners, breeders and other pet enthusiasts in person.

2024 Reader’s Digest Quality Service Silver Award

Celebrating the PD Insurance birthday is also about reflecting on what we’ve achieved to date. We’re proud to have earned the 2024 Reader’s Digest Quality Service Silver Award for Pet Insurance.

The Reader’s Digest Quality Service Awards are evaluated across 31 categories and based on feedback from over 1,600 Kiwis. Participants must have used a service in the relevant category within that year to participate.

Criteria for the awards includes when a customer last used the service and five key pillars of quality service—satisfaction, understanding, simplicity, consistency, and personalization. It also includes direct customer feedback and advocacy, measured by the Net Promoter Score.

2023 MoneyHub Editor’s Choice Award for ‘Favourite Pet Insurer’

Snapping up 2023 MoneyHub Editor’s Choice Award for ‘Favourite Pet Insurer’ is another award we’re proud of. MoneyHub compares insurers and explains what’s what in pet insurance so that pet owners know what to be on the lookout for.

Sometimes having industry bodies help pet owners compare the market can provide useful tips and info. Here’s more about this award.

2022 Canstar Most Satisfied Customers Award for Pet Insurance

Winning the Canstar’s 2022 Most Satisfied Customers – Pet Insurance Award is a great moment in our journey.

Canstar asked hundreds of New Zealanders how they rated their insurance provider for overall satisfaction, customer service and value for money.

Winning these awards has been testament to the fact that we’re doing a great job for our customers and partners. We’ll continue putting our best paw forward at every step of the pet insurance journey.
